The Swindle was always going to have a narrator (technically two narrators), unfortunately. I may rethink that, if it feels overdone.

I don't think so, from the way you've described it to me. I think it'll feel fresh.

It's basically twice as good.

I've rather enjoyed most of Danny Wallace's work (I joined the Karma Army back in the day!). Join Me and Yes Man are both excellent books (read them people!), his How To Start Your Own Country TV series was entertaining and him and Dave Gorman's quest to find the other Dave Gorman's (while never meeting anyone called Danny Wallace) is absolutley hilararious. Never listened to him on XFM and I found it rathe rbemusing when he cropped up on Horizon at one stage.

Not sure his style entirely fits with the game, or indeed that narration entirely fits with the game. Does seem like an effort to inject some humour to avoid getting burdened with the "yet another puzzle platformer label" which has (perhaps understandably given how commonplace they are) become rather prevelant.

I'm still quite interested in playing it and we'll see how it turns out but I'd question the fit of narration/narration style almost as much as I would the choice of narrator. But that could just be because Danny seems rather lovely.

The voiceover works really well. It's really funny, and the script's really good so it works.

You mean you haven't gouged out your ears? Even though you were so anti-danny-wallace doing the narrative before? :P

I still don't think he's quite right due to not being an actor, but it's charming enough that it works. It comes across more Stephen Fry that 'proper actor', you know? Which works. It's certainly better than 90% of game VO.

It needs the narration, they're so well written they work as a reward for solving the puzzles.

Dan has done a review of this on the blog:

http://www.sizefivegames.com/2012/06/24/thomas-was-alone

Nicely written and very convincing!

(Because there are no typos or spelling mistaks for me to point out, I'll remark that it should be "choice of Danny Wallace as narrator" rather than vice versa, instead.)
