How Shit is Your PC?
« on: April 24, 2013, 09:42:42 am »
Time to work out minimum specs! If your PC is shitter than the most recent PC posted to this thread, and it runs the game with everything turned down, please post your specs.

Quad Core @ 2.4GHz
6GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti (2GB)

(note: this thread'll probably become unworkable if it devolves into our usual general banter, so specs only, please)

Ok, new rule: online only. Not that it should make a massive difference, but it needs to be genuinely playable (ie running at a decent frame rate) in online mode on lowest settings.

Please only add specs to this thread if the game runs ok on your system and your specs are worse than the previous PC.

i3-2370M @ 2.4 GHz
3GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 3000

Runs only OK, but exactly what I'd expect if I played a game at the official lowest settings

EDIT: This was online just now using my work connection which is RIDICULOUSLY slow, so impressive I can play at all!

Same specs as ptft AND running it on my work network connection (weird coincidence) and it is acceptably playable.  No noticeable slow downs.

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Service Pack 1
i7-2670QM @ 2.2 GHz
12GB RAM
NVIDIA GT 540M

I'm averaging around 19fps. I have all of the settings turned down to the lowest at 1920x1080 resolution. My computer should have enough horse power to run this, but the fps is way too low to be competitive.

He was aware of that from other games. Even with the nVidia settings done properly he was getting 19 average.

I'm on a Macbook Pro 2009, and it *does* suffer the same issue as listed in the laptop/nvidia post http://www.sizefivegames.com/forum/index.php?topic=4894.0

But it is easily resolved by switching to the "Higher Performance" graphics option in the Energy Saver Control Panel.

There's an odd gfx card issue with some text not being displayed/ being half- displayed in the tutorial on some gfx cards setups. Ah, PC gaming.

I suspect sometime I just have to appreciate I'm never going to solve everyone's problems. If GTAIV still doesn't run on my PC, what chance does an indie have of getting their game going on everything? :(

I'd hoped Unity would help with compatibility, and to a HUGE degree it does, but: what a fucking faff ;)
